Swapsy

Swap or buy bikes near you. Swapsy is an app for swapping and buying motorbikes, off-road bikes and e-bikes, rider to rider. Swap your bike, with cash on top if the bikes aren't worth the same, or buy one at the seller's asking price and pay face to face at the handover.

New Out now on iPhone and Android, for riders 18 and over across the UK.

On iPhone, Swapsy needs iOS 18 or later. On Android, it needs Android 8.0 or later. It's for riders aged 18 and over, anywhere in the UK.

How it works

  1. List your bike. Choose Swap only, For sale or For sale or swap. Add at least 4 photos and the details, including the mileage, MOT and V5C status. Off-road bikes are listed as off-road only.
  2. Find a bike. Browse Swaps and Buy, search by make or model, or open the Map. Say what you'd swap for, or save an alert, and Matches shows you bikes that fit.
  3. Send a request. Ask to swap, adding or asking for cash if the bikes aren't worth the same, or buy at the asking price. Swapsy writes the first message for you, and you can chat once the other rider replies.
  4. Agree, then meet. Nothing is agreed until one of you accepts. Then agree a time and a public place in the app, check the bike and the paperwork together, pay at the handover, and you both tap Deal complete.

In the app

Swapsy writes the first message. The Ask to swap screen says the £100 top-up is paid at the handover, in cash or by bank transfer while you're together, and shows the message the app writes: Hi Dan, I have a 2022 Triumph Street Triple 765. Would you be interested in swapping it for your 2020 Kawasaki Z900? I'd add £100, paid at the handover.
Agree a deal, then meet up. A request to buy reads: Hi Alex, I'd like to buy your 2021 Honda CB125R for £2,900, paid at the handover. Below it are the buttons Accept £2,900, Reply, Counter and Decline.
Bikes shown in zones, never exact spots. The Map near Hitchin shows bikes grouped in zones about 3 miles across, with no exact locations.

Screens from Swapsy on iPhone, showing sample bikes and riders.

Anyone can browse. To list a bike, send a request or chat, you need an account, and you must be 18 or over. Swapsy is for private riders, so you can have up to 3 bikes for sale at once. If you allow notifications, you'll get one when someone sends you a request or a message.

Swapsy is open to riders across the UK. It's new, so there aren't many bikes on it yet.

Paying and safety

The terms of use explain paying at the handover and meeting up safely in full.
