Swapsy support
Last updated 27 October 2026
Help with Swapsy, the app from SteadyGen Ltd for swapping or buying motorbikes and e-bikes. Real people at SteadyGen read every message and every report.
This page is for version 1.1 of the app, on iPhone and Android. Where the older version (1.0) works differently, we say so. To see which version you have, open Settings in the app and look under About.
Contact us
This is the only Swapsy support address. Email us about:
- a question about the app or your account
- a bike, rider or deal you can't report in the app, such as a stolen bike (see below)
- an appeal, if we removed your listing or suspended your account and you think we got it wrong. Email us from the address on your account and we'll take another look.
- a complaint about Swapsy, or about a decision we made about your content or account
- your personal data, for example to ask for a copy. Email us from the address on your Swapsy account, or tell us your username if you use Hide My Email. We reply to data requests within one month (see your rights).
- a child using Swapsy. Swapsy is for adults aged 18 and over (see below).
Tell us what happened, and we'll look into it and reply as soon as we can.
Under 18?
Swapsy is for adults only, so please don't create an account. If someone you met through Swapsy has made you feel unsafe, tell an adult you trust.
You can talk to Childline free on 0800 1111 or at childline.org.uk.
If someone has asked you for sexual pictures, or to meet up in a way that worries you, you can report it to CEOP at ceop.police.uk.
In an emergency, call 999.
Report a rider, bike or deal in the app
If you're signed in and have finished setting up your account, you can report straight from the app. If you haven't, a listing shows Report this bike instead, which works by email (see below).
- A bike: open the listing and tap Report listing at the bottom. Or tap the More options button at the top (••• on iPhone, ⋮ on Android) and choose Report listing.
- A rider: open their profile and tap Report, or tap More options and choose Report profile. On one of their listings, you can also tap More options and choose Report rider.
- A deal: open the deal, tap More options and choose Report this deal. In version 1.1, your deals are behind the speech-bubble button at the top of each tab (Swaps & offers), or in Profile > My swaps & offers. In version 1.0, they're in the Deals tab.
- A problem with a deal: once a deal is agreed, tap Report a problem in the deal. The deal is paused while we take a look, and we'll post the outcome in the deal.
Choose what's wrong, add any details and tap Send report. Reports go to the Swapsy team, not to the other rider, and we don't tell them who reported them. Please don't make false reports.
A problem with an agreed deal is different, because you share the deal. When you tap Report a problem, choose what happened, add any details and tap Report problem. The deal is paused and the other rider is told a problem was reported. In version 1.1, they don't see your reason or what you wrote. If you report from version 1.0, your reason and details are also saved on the deal, so the other rider may see them. Report this deal on an agreed deal does the same, unless you switch off Open a dispute on this deal.
You can also block a rider from their profile, one of their listings or your deal with them. You'll be hidden from each other, and open requests between you close. To undo it, open Settings (the gear icon at the top of the Profile tab), tap Privacy & safety, then under Blocked riders tap Unblock.
For theft, fraud or violence, contact the police: call 101, or 999 if a crime is happening now.
Report a rider, photo or child-safety concern without an account
You don't need a Swapsy account to tell us about a rider, a photo, a feedback comment or a child-safety concern. Email info@steadygen.co.uk with the rider's username or the bike's listing ID, and tell us what's wrong. Real people at SteadyGen read every report.
Parents and carers: if you think your child is using Swapsy, email us their username. We'll close the account and delete their data, except anything we need to keep to protect other riders (see section 9 of the privacy policy).
If a child is in danger right now, call 999.
Report a stolen bike without an account
You don't need a Swapsy account to report a bike, and anyone can browse bikes in the app.
- Find the bike in the Swapsy app and open its listing. In version 1.1, look in the Swaps tab (bikes to swap) and the Buy tab (bikes for sale). In version 1.0, use Feed or Search.
- Tap Report this bike at the bottom of the listing, or in the More options menu at the top (••• on iPhone, ⋮ on Android).
- The screen shows the bike's listing ID. Tap Email info@steadygen.co.uk to open your email app with the ID filled in. Or tap Copy and paste the ID into your own email to info@steadygen.co.uk.
- Tell us what's wrong. If it's your stolen bike, tell us when and where it was taken, the police crime reference number, and how you can show it's yours (for example the V5C or a receipt).
Listings don't have web links yet, so the listing ID is how we find the bike. You can also start a report email here and paste the listing ID into it.
Is it your stolen bike?
Don't contact the rider or try to get it back yourself. Report it to the police on 101, or 999 if a crime is happening now, and ask for a crime reference number. Then email us with it, and we'll take the listing down while we look into it.
Delete your account
- Open the Profile tab and tap the gear icon at the top (Settings).
- Near the bottom, tap Delete account.
- Read what's deleted and what's kept, then tap Delete account to confirm. This can't be undone.
- Asked to sign in again? For your security, deleting needs a recent sign-in. Sign out, sign back in, then delete your account.
- Deal in progress? You can't delete your account while a handover is in progress (either of you has tapped Deal complete) or a problem report is open. Finish the deal or report the problem first.
- Account suspended? You can still delete it. Sign in and tap Delete my account. Deleting it doesn't lift the suspension.
Deleting your account removes your sign-in, profile, username, photos, saved bikes, bike alerts, notification settings and inbox straight away. Your live and draft bikes are withdrawn, and open requests and deals that haven't reached the handover are cancelled. Records the other rider shares, such as deals, chat messages, feedback and your listings' details (without photos), are kept, usually for 6 years. The privacy policy explains what we keep and why.
If you used Sign in with Apple, disconnect Swapsy from your Apple ID after deleting your account. On an iPhone, Apple asks you to confirm and we tell Apple to disconnect it; if that doesn't work, open the Settings app, tap your name, then Sign-In & Security, then Sign in with Apple. On Android or a computer, go to account.apple.com, sign in, then choose Sign-In and Security > Sign in with Apple and stop using Swapsy.
You can also ask us to delete your account by emailing info@steadygen.co.uk.
Stay safe and pay at the handover
Whether you swap or buy, you meet the other rider in person for the handover, and any money is paid there. Swapsy doesn't take, hold or protect money. There are no payments in the app and no payment protection, so these checks matter.
- Meet somewhere public and busy, in daylight. A supermarket car park or petrol station is ideal. Never meet at a home address.
- Check the V5C against photo ID. The name on the V5C logbook should match the rider's driving licence or passport. If it doesn't, don't go ahead.
- Check the bike and its numbers. Make sure the bike, its number plate and its frame and engine numbers match the listing and the V5C. An off-road bike has no V5C, so check its frame number against the proof of purchase instead. For a pedal e-bike, you can use BikeRegister's free check to see whether it's been registered as stolen. In version 1.1, once a deal is agreed, the handover check-in shows the frame number from the listing, if it has one.
- Test ride only with your own insurance in place. Don't let anyone ride your bike unless they're insured to, and never test ride an off-road bike on a public road.
- Pay face to face, at the handover. The price of a bike you buy, and any cash top-up in a swap, is paid in person when you meet, after you've checked the bike and its documents. Pay in cash, or by bank transfer while you're together. Nothing is paid through the app.
- Never pay a deposit, or anything before you've seen the bike. Nobody on Swapsy needs a deposit, and a request for one is a common scam sign, so please report it. No couriers, no "friends and family" payments, no gift cards or crypto, and no one collecting for the seller.
- Make sure the money is with you before the keys change hands. Count cash together. For a bank transfer, wait until the money shows in your own banking app. A screenshot, email or text isn't proof.
- Finish the deal together. When you meet, open the deal and tap Start handover check-in. Once the bike, keys, paperwork and money have all changed hands, you both tap Deal complete.
- Keep the chat in Swapsy. Bring someone with you if you can, and trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, walk away and report it.
Buying a bike? Buying is new in version 1.1. Riders list each bike as Swap only, For sale at a fixed price or For sale or swap, and a bike for sale shows its asking price. On the listing, tap Buy for and the price (for example Buy for £4,500), then tap Send request to ask to buy it at that price. The app writes the request for you, and you can chat once the seller replies. New accounts wait 24 hours before they can buy. The seller can accept, reply, offer a different price or decline. If they offer a different price, you can accept it or decline. The price you agree is saved in the deal, and you pay it at the handover.
Using version 1.0? It's for swaps only, and its safety tips say never to pay by bank transfer. Under the current terms, a bank transfer is fine while you're together at the handover, as long as the rider being paid sees the money in their own banking app before the keys change hands. A deposit or payment in advance is never OK.
If you think you've been scammed, contact your bank straight away, and report it to Action Fraud and to us.
Swapsy doesn't run vehicle history checks. Before you meet, ask the other rider for the full number plate in the chat. Use the free MOT history check and vehicle enquiry services on GOV.UK, and think about a paid history check for finance, theft and write-off records. There are more tips in the app, in Settings > Privacy & safety. The full rules are in sections 8 and 9 of the terms of use.
